Lots of people take personal responsibility for great results, positive outcomes, and those situations that they can share with pride. However, few if any will take responsibility for creating disappointing outcomes, embarrassing situations, and less than desirable behaviors. Funny how it works, isn't it! When things don't turn out the way we desire, intend or want, we are quick to blame anyone or anything other than ourselves. The good news is we have total control over our lives, including out attitude. We can choose to feel good, energetic, eager and hopeful all the time. We have the ability to choose enthusiasm, positivity and empowerment. Doesn't it feel good to know you have the freedom to choose your perspective, your interpretation and your response? Every day, every hour, and every minute is a new
Everyday you make hundreds of choices! Taking responsibility for those choices puts you in a very empowering position. You are totally in charge of yourself, and at the same time, you are totally free. No longer will you be controlled or manipulated by someone else. Easy ways to begin the process of exercising your freedom to choose can start with exhibiting random acts of kindness. The best random acts of kindness are the ones no other person except you know about. It's so much fun to be a secret Santa to different people all year round. Nothing shifts your attitude more than doing something nice for someone without expecting anything in return. In the words of John Wooden, you can not live a perfect day until you do something for someone who will never be able to repay you. Choose to make a difference in someone else's life -- you have that freedom. And when you make a difference to someone else, you will become different too. Smile to yourself. Have you ever walked by a mirror and just looked at yourself, thought how beautiful you are, and smiled? Try it! It will make you feel warm and fuzzy inside. Good attitudes get good results. You've probably noticed that happy people are fun to be around and they make you feel good. Their energy radiates and lights up everyone around them. You can be a light for other people and get great results to boot. One way to move yourself closer to the vibrant feeling of being energetic, eager, hopeful and joyful comes from utilizing a Shift List. Create a list of memories during your lifetime that were spectacular. The items on the list may be special events, trips, people, family gatherings, holidays, and/or times in your life that strike you as once in a lifetime fabulous memories. These are things that when you remember them help you visualize, feel and relive the event. In doing so you activate the same feel-good endorphins that were triggered when you experienced the event the first time. And since your mind doesn't know the difference between actually doing it and visualizing it, you can feel as fabulous as you did the first time. It's an awesome way of shifting to a better feeling place. The beauty of all this is you get to choose how you feel, your attitude, and your results just by choosing your thoughts. It's easy to feel your way to joy by always reaching for the best feeling thought you can find. A shift list can help speed up the process!
